Applications are now invited from Fijian Students for one of the 630 Fijian Government National Toppers Scholarships to undertake full time undergraduate studies from 2017 in one of the priority areas. These are full scholarships funded by the Fijian Government in line with its vision of “Building a Smarter Fiji”.
1. National Toppers Scheme (NTS) – Scholarships 2017
Brief Description
Applications are now invited from Fijian Students for one of the 630 Fijian Government National Toppers Scholarships to undertake full time undergraduate studies from 2017 in one of the priority areas. These are full scholarships funded by the Fijian Government in line with its vision of “Building a Smarter Fiji”.
Fijian Government Priority Areas
PRIORITY AREA PROGRAMS
Tourism Bachelor of Commerce in Hotel Management.
 
Infrastructure Bachelor of Engineering: Civil Engineering (including Hydrology, Hydraulic Engineering, Road Engineering), Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Energy Engineering Mechanical Engineering, (Including Mill Engineering), Chemical Engineering.
 
Mining and Milling Bachelor’s Degree in: Mining (Including Rock Mechanics, Geology); Mill Engineering.
 
Medicine and Health MBBS: Bachelor’s Degree in: Oral Health, Dietetics, Biomedical, Engineering, Dermatology, Nursing, Public Health, Medical Lab Sciences, Physiotherapy, and Pharmacy.
 
Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry Bachelor’s Degree in: Agriculture (majors in: Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Engineering, Biosecurity, Quarantine, Agribusiness, Agriculture Marketing), Veterinary Sciences, Forestry, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Fish Technology, Food Technology).
 
Technology Bachelor’s Degree in: Computer Sciences, (Networking, Software Development Programing), Library Sciences, Media and Journalism.
 
Social Sciences Bachelor’s Degree in: Social Work, Social Policy, and Policy Administration.
 
Environment/Marine Science Bachelor’s Degree in: Environmental Science, Environmental Management (Including in Mining), Meteorology, Applied Computing.
Land/Town Planning Bachelor’s Degree in: Land Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning, Real Estate and Property Management, Geo-Spatial Engineering, GIS/Land Acquisition.
 
Commerce Bachelor of Commerce in: Accounting, Economics, Official Statistics, Project Planning & Management, Property Management and Valuation, Occupational Health and Safety.
 
Education
 
Bachelor of Education in: Primary Ed, Secondary Ed. (Science, Technology, TVET, Food& Textiles, Home Economics, Special Education, Commerce, Social Science, Languages, Counselling, Computer Sciences).
 
Special Areas of High Priority –Diplomas and Certificate. Marine Studies (Nautical Sciences & Engineering), Culinary Arts, Mining, Land Surveying, Aviation (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and Avionics), Early Childhood Education, Forensic Science, Fashion.
 
Local Scholarships
 
Undergraduate Programmes that are within the Fijian Government’s priority areas tenable at one of the following eligible Higher Education Institutions:
 
  • Fiji National University, The University of the South Pacific, University of Fiji, Corpus Christi Teachers College, Fulton University College and Sangam Institute of Nursing.
 
NTS awards are not available for training in any other areas or Institutions.
 
Overseas Scholarships
 
Limited number of overseas Scholarship awards may be considered on merit basis and will apply only to programs that are currently not available in Fiji, and which are high on Government’s priority as specified under the National Toppers Scheme, as reviewed from time to time. Students must present offer letters from the overseas institution before the confirmation of the award from the Board.
 
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be Fijian Citizens.
2. Applicants must be either in Year 13 or Equivalent Foundation Studies in 2016.
3. Applicants must be ranked as a National Topper in the priority area applied for.
4. Applicants must fill a NTS application form only and list three choices in the order of priority from the most preferred to the least preferred choice.
 
Application Requirements
  • An official academic transcript for Year 12 and 13 or equivalent Foundation Studies including GPA. (Year 13 results to be submitted as soon as the results are out).
  • Offer letter from the Higher Education Institute. (To be submitted before an offer is made from TSLB).
  • Certified true copy of the Birth Certificate
  • Copy of students TIN Letter/FRCA-FNPF Joint Card
  • 2 recent Passport Size Photos 
 
2. TERTIARY EDUCATION LOANS SCHEME (TELS) 2017
 
Brief Description
The Scheme provides student loans to eligible citizens of Fiji to enable them access to higher education at affordable rates, in line with the Fijian Government’s vision of “Building a Smarter Fiji”.
Categories of Tertiary Education Loans Scheme
  • Tertiary Education Loans Scheme for New Students
  • Tertiary Education Loans Scheme for  Existing Tertiary Students
  • Tertiary Education Loans Scheme for Technical College of Fiji
  • Tertiary Education Loans Scheme for Employees in Service
  • Tertiary Education Loans Scheme for Pilot Training
  • Tertiary Education Loans Scheme for Accommodation Support.
 
Eligibility

  • Evidence on Parents’/Guardians’ Income (Salary Slip or Statutory Declaration)
  • Copy of Parents’/Guardians’ TIN Letter/FRCA-FNPF Joint Card

How to Apply
 
Online
 
1. Visit www.tslb.com.fj and register for TSLB online services. Register on the Student Login portal.
2. Students applying for NTS must fill form TSLB 01 and those applying for TELS must fill form TSLB 02.
2. Fill the required fields and submit the completed application. Students will not be able to submit the form unless all mandatory fields are filled. Year 13 results and offer letter from the institutions need to be uploaded before 31st December 2016.
3. Students must scan and upload all the required documents.
4. The application requires a signature. You may provide an electronic signature.
 
Students applying online will be able to log in and check the application status at any time and also print and submit the TSLB Offer Letter, Bond Forms and award confirmation letters online.
